Hello cosplayers! I’m a Regional Master-level cosplayer who is doing her Master’s in Theatre and Performance Studies at York University. I got lucky enough to get a program that allows me to study cosplay as performance. In order to support my MRP (Major Research Paper), I need your help. I am creating a demographic and ethnographic study of Ontario cosplayers, performance, and identity, and where all of those intersect. I’m looking a lot at gender theory for this paper, so gender identity and gender performance figures heavily into it. Those who are not necessarily from Ontario are more than welcome to submit as well, but preference is for those who cosplay in Ontario. For legality’s sake, I’m looking for cosplayers that are 18 and older.

Effort has been made to make the survey as inclusive as possible. Every single question is optional. I had a dream that there was a giant stag outside my bedroom door. It had started as a little deer and grew huge within minutes, with a set of antlers that couldn’t fit through the door frame. The stag kept trying to get into my bedroom, but I kept ordering it to get out. If I followed it out of my room and into the hallway, my house turned into my grandmother’s old house and my mother was sleeping across the hall— we had to be quiet or else she would wake up and find a huge stag standing in her house. 

There was a dog next to my hip, but it changed into a snake and I remember being afraid of the stag more than the snake.

I’m planning on Cos and Effect 2013 in August! I’m completely new to the West Coast (just moved to Victoria from Ottawa), so since I don’t know too many faces round these parts, I’m wondering if anyone has room to spare for the con? Whether it be in a hotel room or wherever you’re staying.

If you have room to spare, let me say: I can pay the money right away, I don’t take up a lot of room, I keep my stuff neat, and I tell fantastic puns. I have one cosplay that requires more make-up but it’s only in the facial area so it shouldn’t be too bad. In any case, if you are interested, shoot me a message on tumblr or add me on skype and we can talk more. 

I’ll be cosplaying Homestuck, Hatoful Boyfriend, and One Piece stuff if that’s of any relevance!
